3 Staff Leadership Moves that Increase Our Impact
The Minneapolis Foundation is pleased to announce the promotion of three staff members on our team. Andrea Cummings, Maggie McCracken, and Sam Ndely will step into new roles as the Foundation adapts its organizational structure to advance its mission of cultivating change together.

Andrea Cummings has been named Vice President of Philanthropic Services. In this new position, which reports to the Senior Vice President of Philanthropic Services, Andrea will be responsible for providing operational leadership through planning, guidance, and support to Foundation projects and initiatives ranging from grantmaking and philanthropic advising to business development and portfolio management. She will collaborate across all teams at the organization to design and evolve approaches and systems that strengthen overall alignment with the Foundation’s Strategic Framework. Andrea will provide leadership on organizational goals and strategies, process optimization efforts, diversification of revenue, and technology enhancements for improved relationship management, impact, and reporting. Andrea joined the Minneapolis Foundation in 2020 as Senior Director of Philanthropic Services, bringing more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit development and program management, most recently at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Maggie McCracken has been promoted to Senior Director of Engagement. In this new position, Maggie will work collaboratively to provide strategic direction, coordination, and priority setting for the Philanthropic Services team as we further our plan for Excellence in Donor Engagement. Maggie will lead the implementation of a comprehensive plan to engage fundholders, prospective fundholders, and our broad community of professional advisor partners through the foundation’s vision, mission, and values. She will be responsible for creating and implementing engagement and learning designed to bring our current and future fundholders more proximate to community issues, experts, and one another. Maggie joined the Minneapolis Foundation in 2022 as a Philanthropic Advisor, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including roles at Target and The BrandLab.
Sam Ndely will shift to our Impact team as a Program Officer – Impact and Collective Giving. Sam steps into a unique role that will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of collective giving groups and grantmaking advisory committees. In this position, Sam will report to the Vice President of Collective Impact & Giving and work collaboratively with the Director of Collective Giving. His responsibilities will include managing grantmaking advisory groups, giving circles, and supporting Foundation-directed grantmaking programs across multiple issue areas, including racial and economic justice, education, environment/climate, criminal justice, and community safety. He will also partner with the Vice President of Collective Impact & Giving, Director of Collective Giving, and other staff from Philanthropic Services and Marketing & Communications to engage individuals, nonprofits, foundations, and the broader community in collective giving. Sam came to the Foundation in 2022 as a Philanthropic Advisor, bringing more than a decade of experience as a leader in work focusing on racial equity, economic development, and entrepreneurship.
